New from Boon - GRASS bottle drying rack.
Go Boon Inc.! Just when we thought we couldn't love anything more then the Boon bath pods (Frog and Bug) they go and launch a whole new range of smart and modern products this season. This is our favourite - GRASS, aka: a counter top baby bottle and food gear drying rack. We think it's pretty smart. It's free from all the stuff we worry about like BPA, PVA and Phthalates. You won't find any of that junk in this drying rack, just sleek, modern, functional design. It's super easy to clean too, (it comes apart - the grass from the white base) and it's dishwasher friendly. This is definitely a step up from the paper towels or dishcloths we used to dry Lesia's little one's bottles with!
Watch for it at your favourite baby shop that carries other Boon products soon.
Cost: $19.99 US (approx)

Mood Board: A modern/gender neutral nursery

If we could spend all day doing mood boards we would. Here is the first of many mood boards. Drum roll please...our modern/gender neutral nursery.
We have a few friends having babies soon and we keep hearing about how hard it is to kit out a gender neutral nursery, so we wanted to help. Turns out they're right - decorating a gender neutral room isn't as easy as it should be. There is a lot of nice bedding out there but most of it is either too girly or err...has trains on it!
To help us keep focus, we started with the Binth alphabet poster for inspiration and built the room around that with the core colours of grey, blue and orange/yellow. We tried to balance costs (you can't beat the Ikea Gulliver crib for style, function and price) without sacrificing style.
Our modern/gender neutral nursery was made with:
(left to right, top to bottom)
Dwell - bird pair 1 - wall art
Dwell - geo elephant -book shelf
Binth - alphabet poster
Oeuf -toy store
Dwell - geo elephant pillow
Dwell - fitted crib sheet - grey square
Dwell - applique jack aqua boudoir pillow
Ikea - gulliver crib - white
Ikea - malm - 4 drawer dresser

Sophie Saver
You know about Sophie right?Sophie is the ULTIMATE teething toy/soother/sanity saver for little droolers. Mommas and Papas around the world love this giraffe because she's cute, she's safe (colours are made of veggie dye), she's light (so she's easy to hold with little hands) and she has endless nubby bits that help soothe sore gums during the teething MONTHS (feel like years).
Go to a play group or a park - you'll see - Sophie's e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e.
The ONLY problem with the Soph is she's tough to keep tabs on when you're on the go. We lost her a few times but always managed to find her thanks to my endless retracing of steps. If I had a dollar for every time Baby Gap gets this call 'um, did you happen to find a Sophie when you were cleaning up today, my son lost it, please say yes'....! I'd be rich!
Sophie retails for approximately $20 CDN so you want to keep tabs on her, because if your little one tosses her, you will be buying it again. Trust. This is why we are love, love, loving the Sophie Saver by a smart Canadian Momma from Port Moody, BC.
Snap up the Sophie Saver from Etsy (our favourite place to shop) for $8USD (approx $10CDN) and voila, you can keep that giraffe on lock down even if your son has a wicked pitching arm.No need to just save Sophie from a near death experience with this handy strap. Use it for your son's favourite bear, your daughter's snack trap - lock it all down, stroll without worry and get home with everything you left with. Imagine, it really is possible.
Snap up the Sophie Saver from sophiebelle on Etsy or keep your peepers peeped for it in your favourite local children's boutique.

Tod - Pod for Jet Set Droolers
If you have ever traveled anywhere with a baby, you will have nothing but love for Aldo Barreto's innovative Tod - Pod for Samsonite. Aldo, a Canadian Industrial designer (woot woot), fresh out of school entered a design competition held by travel company Samsonite. The challenge was to design child transportation 'vessel' that would eliminate the need for the endless baby gear required to get baby safely from A to B. By gosh, I think he's done it.
This Tot - Pod concept has a built-in child restraint system, drop down wheels - so it can easily convert from a car seat to a stroller, as well as a carry handle and storage compartment. The whole things snaps shut so it can easily be carted on and off a plane. You can't get more jet set baby than that.I know, you're wondering, where the heck can you buy this thing right? That's the catch. So far it's just a concept but who knows, it may very well be the way wee ones travel in the not so distant future.
Until then, we lug...
Check out Aldo's research and thought process behind this great concept here.

Oeufs ROBIN - coming soon to Canada
We're seriously swooning over Oeuf's latest creation, the Robin Collection. The NYC-based husband and wife duo behind Oeuf's drool-worthy designs wanted to create a collection that was more affordable without compromising quality or style. I think it's safe to say they've done it.The collection includes a crib (above) a toddler conversion kit (so you can make it into a 'big girl or boy' bead in a snap) and a dresser. All the pieces are made in Europe and constructed out of eco-friendly 100% natural wood and painted with 100% natural water based paint.
Don't get too excited because it's not available here....yet. We're stalking Oeuf and they promise us it will be available to Canadian style savvy parents in the new year. As for pricing, the crib is retailing for $565-585US and the conversion kit is $145US. We'll keep you posted....

Famille Summerbelle

It was a lucky day when we happened upon Famille Summerbelle online. Check out the playful paperie works of art for playrooms and nurseries. Above are what are easily the coolest looking family trees we've ever seen.
But their paper cut prints of Paris and London are what really blew out minds. They're incredible. My daughter was born in London so I personally can't get my hands on the London map fast enough.Paris: pink (also comes in a soft green)
London: blue (also comes in a deep red)
The Paris map shows all of the arrondissements and attractions of Paris, as well as some of the quirky side of Parisian life. And the London map shows detail of the central boroughs of London with the attractions and cultural pursuits that make it so special.
Shop and see these beauties in more detail on the Famille Summerbelle site.

Bag that Baby!
Looooooooooooving Dwell Studio's latest collection (more on that later). One of our favourite new pieces is this bundle bag. Shown here in the Bugaboo Cameleon/Frog but its made to fit with most 'modern' strollers via handy universal straps. This knocks the socks off using any other foot muff or bag out there to keep wee ones warm.
Other features include: The bags are made of 100% cotton percale and are machine washable (good!). There are a few more prints, Transportation and a pretty Sparrow design.Look for it where you usually buy your Dwell goods. These are just starting to trickle into shops this fall.
What are the chances that even if you bundle your little girl in the Paper Dolls print (above) people won't still ask - is it a girl? Argh...

ZID ZID - Moroccan based purveyors of fine and lovely things for your little ones bedroom or nursery. We have always admired their Moroccan poofs here at eh baby! There is something about a Moroccan poof that gets us all excited. Are we alone or do you feel it? Aren't they so gorgeous? Especially the silver and gold. Etsy find...mae
You are going to love our latest Etsy find...mae - makers of the ridiculous cute reusable wall stickers for babies and kids rooms. It doesn't get much better than these gorgeous designs that are completely reusable and wait for it...totally washable!
LOVE.
Here are a few of our faves...

How cute is this Spring Dolls Collection sticker? If you have a little fashionista - this is a must for her walls. Loving the Ray Bans as an accessory option!

These stickers look more like murals or paintings than wall stickers. The forest theme is our favourite and we love the subtle tweaks in the prints for girls versus boys.

Check out mae's entire collection of awe inspiring wall stickers here. Oh and of course they ship to Canada! Yay!

Let's do Lunch
Let's talk lunch shall we. Lunch has come a long way since I had my Jem and the Holograms lunch box back in the day. Granted, it was a truly outrageous lunch box but wasn't nearly as cool as the lunch options that are out there now for wee ones. Here are a few of our favourites...
Leah introduced me to these bad boys, the Munchlers lunch bags by Built. My daughter has the dog (aka: Lefty) bag and she crazy loves it. She gets super excited when I pull it out and even more excited if it contains cheese. The coolest thing about these well designed and cool looking bags is that they unzip to become place mats. Gotta love that in this germ infested world. Cost: (approx) $14.00 CDN
Another Built product, this the Gourmet Getaway Lunch Tote. We love it because it's made of light, durable neoprene, keeps your lovingly prepared lunch warm or cold up to four hours and because look how cute it is in action... Cost: (approx) $36 CDN
This is just one of the MANY colourful and cute lunch bags available by Crocodile Creek. They wash up easily with a little elbow grease and warm water and boast an extra insulated lining to keep your little ones food fresh. Cost: (approx) $18 CDN
What's this? Don't be alarmed by the numerous containers. I know what you're thinking...'do I have to wash all those boxes everyday?' Yes, yes you do BUT wait! There is so much to love about the Laptop Lunch Bento System 2.0 that you'll get over it quick. Firstly, there is virtually no waste with a lunch system like this plus, eating bento style is so much fun. If this alien theme isn't doing it for your little princess, there are a few other styles to choose from too. Cost: (approx) $50 CDN (comes with everything pictured)

Say hello to Kids Konserve waste free lunch kit. The lunch bag is made from recycled materials and all the stainless steel is food grade. Our favourite bit is the reusable sandwich cozy. Use that and you'll save enough on plastic baggies to treat yourself to couple pumpkin spice lattes a week! The design pictured is plain, if you want more pizazz they also do a butterfly version and a caterpillar print that are totally cute. Cost: (approx) $50 CDN (comes with everything pictured)
These little beauties are by Mimi The Sardine. First things first, you are going love that these are machine washable. They're also soil and water resistant. The only thing they don't do is make the lunch. That part is on you. There is no shortage of drool worthy prints to pick from either. The only minor knock is that they aren't insulated, but an icepack can fix that problem stat. Cost: (approx) $26 CDN.
